Joetsu City has an abundant variety of nature with all four seasons cleary differentiated. The seasons in Joetsu all have their own unique and beautiful scenery.

In Spring, Joetsu' Takada Park, with its 4000 cherry blossom trees, is home to one of Japan' top three venues for nighttime cherry blossom viewing.
In Summer, Takada Park' canal is filled with what is considered the most beautiful flowering lotuses in the Orient.
In Autumn, the mountains surrounding Joetsu City exhibit the bright yellows and reds of autumn foliage.
In Winter, a blanket of pure white snow covers everything, making it famous around Japan for its abundant snowfall. This snowy environment creates -nurtures a warm-hearted people.

Approximately 400 years ago, next to Kyoto, the Joetsu Area was home to the second largest population in Japan. With its ancient temples and shrines, and present day townspeople's dwellings, Joetsu is a city that still has a cultural lifestyle filled with tradition.

Joetsu's various seasons bring with them a great variety of festivals, each of which enthralls the people who come to see them. The Japanese people's beloved hot springs are abundant.
